Checklist
Work Permit Application Checklist
A step-by-step checklist to prepare a complete work permit application.
Written for: Anyone assembling a Kenyan work permit application — in-house or for a client.
What this covers
A work permit application is usually refused for something procedural, not something substantive. A document is missing, two documents disagree with one another, or an endorsement that had to come first came second. Every one of those is avoidable with a disciplined pre-submission check.
This checklist is the review we run before any application leaves our office. It works through the applicant's documents, the employer's documents, and the consistency checks between them — the places where a job title, a salary figure or a date quietly contradicts itself across the file.
It is organised in submission order, with the items that must be obtained before others clearly flagged, so it doubles as a sequencing aid rather than just a list. Each item includes a short note on why it matters, which makes it usable by someone handling their first application as well as by an experienced mobility team.
- Applicant documents, itemised
- Employer and entity documents, itemised
- Cross-document consistency checks
- Which items must be obtained before others
- Common formatting and certification requirements
- A final pre-submission review sequence
Prepared by the CKN Civis Africa advisory team. This resource is general information about Kenyan immigration practice, not legal advice on your specific circumstances — for that, book a consultation.
Available on request. Rather than an instant download, an advisor prepares and sends the current version — immigration rules change often enough that a stale document does more harm than none.
